Welcome

The Western Australian Technology & Industry Advisory Council (TIAC) was established by the State Government in 1987 as an independent advisory body to assist it in formulating policy directions for the State’s economic development.

TIAC has played an important role in stimulating strategic thinking and action toward creating an impressive economy in Western Australia over the decades.

TIAC has been a key agent of change, providing Government with robust research and reports, which have led to tangible outcomes. Council’s “Awareness Raising Activities” such as its 2020 Breakfast Seminar program and Science and Technology Regional Forums program have sought to ensure that the community is kept informed and given opportunities to participate in the formulation of its advice to Government.

For TIAC, the imperative is not only to map these changes, but also to anticipate what lies ahead and provide informed advice to Government, to ensure that Western Australia is ready to be internationally competitive in today’s business and technological environment.

Objectives
  • promote and foster the growth and development of industry, trade, science, technology and research in the State;
  • improve the efficiency of State industry and its ability to compete internationally;
  • encourage the establishment of new industry in the State;
  • encourage the broadening of the industrial base of the State; and
  • promote an environment which supports the development of industry, science and technology and the emergence of internationally competitive industries in the State.
